Our goal at Istar Restaurant is simple—to provide our guests with an excellent bistro experience with emphasis on a refined yet creative Somalian cuisine. As such, the menu at Istar, is a rich Somalian culmination of traditional family recipes, prepared both with a refreshing technique and innovative presentation.

Since 1999 this award-winning Somali restaurant located right in the heart of Etobicoke, continues to be the leader in this category of Somali cuisine, striving to be the instrumental force in placing the unique dishes of the Horn of Africa on the map and carries worldwide Somali Cuisine recognition.

With its newer location and renovations, cradled in corner of Dixon and Islington, Istar Restaurant is now the prime location for all events ranging from award shows, bridal showers, birthdays, and catering events. We’ve had the privilege of being involved in the community both locally and globally which is why we collaborate with many organizations through contributions, youth outreach programs, and special events.
